Bard’s Message
The St. David’s Society Bangkok is a small society that welcomes those with an interest in Wales, be they Welsh speaking, of Welsh parentage, have some Welsh heritage perhaps a long way back, have lived in Wales or just care about things Welsh. That should tell you that we are a friendly society with an open attitude.
I am of Polish parentage who came to live in mid Wales a couple of years after the war when I was a small babe. I went to school in Llangeitho and Tregaron where I learnt Welsh and was a fluent speaker until I left the College of Education in Cyncoed, Cardiff . I have lived in many countries but Wales is my spiritual home. The highlight of the St. David’s society year is the Ball, held in March, on the nearest Saturday to the 1st of March, which is St. David’s Day that the Welsh male voice choir from Hong Kong can come and sing. Hong Kong of course has first choice of dates. They have been coming to Bangkok for the past 29 years to sing at our Ball. This year 2012 will be their 30th anniversary of coming to sing at the St. David’s Society Ball in Bangkok, a very special anniversary.
